Beautiful Brooches

I am not a brooch wearer, although after seeing the fantastic range on offer I may have to change that. I do, in the meantime have lots of friends and relatives who are, so I am always on the look out for beautiful brooches to buy as gifts. The great thing about brooches is that you can buy unique pieces at a reasonably low cost or you can spend alot on that special gift.

One way of ensuring that your gift is unique is having a picture turned into a brooch. This would make a particularly great present for a mum or grandmother. Made by AM Jewellery each piece is a miniature work of art and is stamped with both the exclusive designer mark and a hallmark.

This beautiful felt daisy brooch design is by Applique Originals (£7.25) and is designed and hand embroidered by Jane Smallcombe. Jane sells her work through the Folksy website and sells a range of these unique brooches.

If you are looking for a more vintage feel then the place to visit is This Charming Girl. The jewellery collection has been created by recycling vintage pieces and combining them with new parts. This Alice in Wonderland inspired brooch is a particularly lovely piece.

For the more traditonal then there is this beautiful Perpetual Motion Amethyst from Lucklaw Silver. Made from a ring of beaten silver across which there are freely spinning Amethyst chips.

Alternatively, if you would like to make your gift really special you could make a brooch yourself. For those of us who don't sew well this is easier than it sounds with these great kits from Dizzyizzy and Sewsister at Not on The High Street
